Stevenson vs Gvozdyk Fight set for Dec. 1 in Quebec City . The 40-year-old Stevenson (29-1-1, 24 knockouts) will defend his WBC light heavyweight title on Dec. 1 against undefeated interim champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (15-0, 12 KOs) at the Centre Videotron in Quebec City.
The WBC let Stevenson steer around his previous mandatory challenger Eleider Alvarez by giving him a step aside fee. It’s unclear if Stevenson attempted to offer Gvozdyk, 31, a step aside fee to get him out of the way temporarily so that he can make arguably easier title defenses.
GYM CEO Yvon Michel added that Marie-Eve-Dicaire (13-0, 0 KOs), Oscar Rivas (24-0, 17 KOs), Mikael Zewski (31-1, 22 KOs) and Sebastien Bouchard (16-1, 6 KOs) will also be a part of this event.
Michel, who promotes two other light heavyweight champions, has a very busy schedule to close out the year.
GYM will be part of a Matchroom card on October 6th, when Artur Beterbiev (12-0, 12 KOs) will stake his International Boxing Federation ( IBF) world title against his mandatory challenger, Callum Johnson (17-0, 12 KOs), in Chicago.
As for his newest champion, Eleider Alvarez (24-0, 12 KOs), he is waiting for the outcome of the negotiations between GYM and Main Events with respect to the rematch against Sergey Kovalev (32-3-1, 28 KOs).
Another Big game on the date Wilder vs Fury fight will take place in Los Angeles on December 1st
