Now, without wasting any more time, I will quickly jump on to the Jarrett Hurd vs Jason Welborn boxing live telecast . It’s official that Jarrett Hurd (22-0, 15 KOs) will be returning to the ring on December 1 to face Jason Welborn (24-6,7 KOs) on the undercard of Deontay wilder vs. Tyson fury on Showtime pay-per-view at the Staples Center in Los Angles, California.
Fighters competing on Saturday’s Hurd vs Welborn Fight PPV undercard headlined by the heavyweight championship showdown between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury went face-to-face on Thursday at the final press conference before they enter the ring on SHOWTIME PPV
The PPV undercard begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and features unified 154-pound world champion Jarrett Hurd defending against the U.K.’s Jason Welborn, Cuban heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz in a 10-round showdown against rugged veteran Travis Kauffman and rising heavyweight Joe Joyce taking on Joe Hanks in a 10-round heavyweight attraction.
Wilder vs Fury live will be produced and distributed by SHOWTIME PPV.
When Jarret Hurd’s short left hook dropped southpaw Erislandy Lara with 37 seconds in their 154-pound title unification in April, his blow was the difference between losing and winning a split-decision that added Lara’s WBA, IBO crown to his IBF version.
A victory for Hurd could put him in with World Boxing Council junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo (31-0, 15 KOs) in a unification fight, as long as he wins his next fight on December 22 against Tony Harrison at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Charlo and Hurd are expected to duel in the first half of 2019 in a unification fight on Showtime. Charlo and Hurd have been trading barbs back and forth for a long time. It’ll be good for them to finally face each other.
Hurd, 28, is taking a low level fight against Welborn due to him coming off left shoulder surgery. Hurd injured his shoulder in beating WBA Super World junior middleweight champion Erislandy ‘The American Dream’ Lara last April in a unification fight.
